Tour de Frontenac
Impress your friends and confuse your enemies with this little known gem of a ride.
The Tour de Frontenac is the ride of choice of an old buddy, since moved West. It's a long loop through South Frontenac and covers everthing from perfect asphalt, giant climbs, dirt roads, and even a bit of rail trail (if you think your wimpy legs and bike can take it).
The TDF route traditionally starts and finishes in Westport, and includes a circumnavigation of the Big Rideau lake and Frontenac park. It's doable with a road bike, but if it's early spring or if it's been wet for a while you might want to consider a cyclocross rig. Best time of year for this ride is the fall, as the leaves are incredible and the tourist traffic has died down.
There's plenty of spots to reload food and bottles, but bring a couple of spare tubes and lots of patches. Seriously. Cell phone coverage is spotty at best out there, so you might also want to think about doing this with a friend.
Detailed route coming soon...
